ITL Notebook: Rep Rumblings

Friday, April 19, 2013

1. Having communicated with three scouts today, it looks like the consensus is that the Browns, Jets and Chiefs are definitely expected to make changes in their scouting departments, though it's unclear if they'll be cleaning house or just making a few additions and subtractions. We've also heard that Carolina is a possibility, though there is less chatter about the Panthers.

It also seems obvious that the Rams will be making hires given the losses they suffered in their scouting department in January; head coach Jeff Fisher will have a lot of influence on those hires, we're told.

2. For what it's worth, the roommate of BYU DE Ziggy Ansah, who's expected to go in the first round next weekend, was Cougars WO Kyle Van Noy, who's also expected to get strong first-round consideration in 2014. Ansah is a client of Stockton, Calif.-based Sun West Sports.

3. Speaking of BYU, Kelly Poppinga is the special teams coordinator and outside linebackers coach for the Cougars. During his one year in the NFL as a linebacker with the Cardinals, Poppinga was represented by Santa Monica, Calif.-based Michael Hoffman of Premier Stinson. His brother, Brady, a free agent linebacker who spent last season with the Cowboys, remains a Premier Stinson client.
